German
Students Complete International Research Internship
A
Message from
Dresden University of Technology Exchange Students
During our 5-year
study of electrical engineering at the Dresden University of Technology
in beautiful Saxony, we have to take a one-semester internship at a company
or an equivalent institution to gain hands-on experiences before we graduate.
Mike and I chose the institution best known worldwide for microelectronics
packaging research - the PRC at Georgia Tech. How did we come to know
about Georgia Tech? During lectures our professor in Germany told us about
the research efforts done by PRC into the next-generation technology.
Therefore, our curiosity was awakened and after a few e-mails we were
on our way to the United States!
At PRC we first learned how to operate the equipment and processes and
were also quickly involved in manufacturing the current test boards. But
what topped our expectations was the assignment of our own research project.
This gave us the opportunity to learn everything from processes all the
way up to project management. This has been the most outstanding experience
so far in our educational history.
The PRC team that
supported us on and off the job made us feel welcome right from the beginning
and I think we have established new friendships that will last even after
our internship term.
We hope this will be a good cornerstone for the relationship and future
exchange programs between our universities.
We thank everyone at the PRC very much for your support and friendship.
Auf Wiedersehn
and Goodbye!
